چکیده

Latent class analysis (LCA) has been used to model measurement error, to identify flawed survey questions, and to compare mode effects. Using data from NSFG Cycle 6, we examined the measurement error properties of responses to questions asked in two different modes (CAPI and ACASI). To evaluate mode effects within LCA strong assumptions need to be made about prevalence and response error rates in subdomains of the population. This paper will demonstrate such an analysis and discuss the “surprising” finding of high false positive and false negatives rates in ACASI compared to CAPI. National Survey of Family Growth, Cycle 6: sample design, weighting, imputation, and variance estimation.

OBJECTIVES Cycle 6 of the National Survey of Family Growth (NSFG) was conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics in 2002 and early 2003. This report describes how the sample was designed, shows response rates for various subgroups of men and women, describes how the sample weights were computed to make national estimates possible, shows how missing data were imputed for a limited se...

A Probe into Adaptive Transfer across Writing Contexts: A Case of an EGAP Class

In an effort to expand the disciplinary discussions on transfer in L2 writing and because most studies have focused on transfer as reuse and not as an adequate adaptation of writing knowledge in new contexts, the present study as the first of its kind aimed to explore the issue of adaptive transfer in an English for General Academic Purposes (EGAP) writing course. The study thus focused on type...

Transverse and longitudinal dynamic modeling of bimorph piezoelectric actuators with investigating the effect of vibrational modes

Bimorph piezoelectric cantilevered (BPC) actuators have recently received a great deal of attention in a variety of micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) applications. Dynamic modeling of such actuators needs to be improved in order to enhance the control performance. Previous works have usually taken transv...

New trends in same-sex sexual contact for American adolescents?

In our article on the sexual orientation, sexual behavior, and sexual risk exposure of adolescents in the U.S. National Longitudinal Lesbian Family Study (NLLFS) (Gartrell, Bos, & Goldberg, 2011), we compared the sexual behavior of the 17-year-old adolescents in our sample with same-age adolescents in a national probability sample—the 2002 U.S. National Survey of FamilyGrowth(NSFGCycle6) (U.S.D...
